“Having had the privilege of being both a student of Scott Reno’s and a colleague, I can confidently

say that Scott is an elite percussion educator. His ear is unparalleled, and his ability to see a student’s

potential and help them achieve that potential is something I aspire to every day as a fellow educator.

In addition, Scott has an amazing creative compositional side, with a unique style and holistic understanding of the role of percussion within a larger musical context. This combination allows him

to pull out the highest levels of execution, musicality, and overall excellence in his students. Furthermore, perhaps his greatest strength is his ability to inspire his students and foster an appreciation for the process of growth: as a drummer, musician, and person.”

I took lessons with Scott throughout high school and he is an outstanding drum teacher!

Thanks to his fantastic instruction, I was easily able to make the drum line in the Colorado University

Marching Band the following year, and even got to play with the Denver Stampede a few years later!

I used to dream of competing with the nation's top drum and bugle corps and thanks to Scott's excellent teaching, I had all the skills I needed to earn my spot in several of the best groups including the Blue Knights, the Blue Coats, and Rhythm X. The technique he teaches is designed to work with the body and prevent injuries, while getting the best look, sound, and feel possible.

But taking lessons with him benefited me more than just learning how to drum well,

he has a way of motivating students and pushing them to expect more of themselves in every area.

I can trace my success in life back to him. He is one of the top educators I've ever worked with.

When I was given the opportunity to put together a staff for the Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble,

I knew that hiring him to teach the quad section would pay off in a big way. It was amazing to see how much progress his students made in the course of a season. Of all the teachers in the Colorado marching percussion scene, no other instructor has such a solid and consistent record of producing top-performing students as Scott does."

"I studied with Scott 4 years in high school and now I’m a professional drummer and producer based in New York. His lessons stick with me to this day, about life as well as drumming. He’s brilliant.

Simply put he made me a great drummer. He has the approach to technique and rhythm figured out,

broken down and laid out in a logical manner like no one else I’ve ever worked with. It’s dope,

I look back on the days studying with him super fondly."
